HGI Cleaning Standards

Hydro-mechanical Grease Interceptor (HGI)

Pump all material out completely

Remove baffles and scrape clean

Clean and scrape inside of the trap

  1. Remove visible grease
  2. Remove ridge tar build up from the side of the HGI

Clean loose material from the lid

Replace baffle

Pump out residual debris

Refill with water to the bottom of the baffle

Note interceptor condition on pumpout report

  1. Missing baffle
  2. Holes in the trap
  3. Gasket in disrepair or missing
  4. Missing trap lid bolt(s)
  5. etc.

Replace lid
